TVPM-Mangalore express mishap: repair works completed
Angamali: Train traffic that was disrupted following a rail accident here has been restored completely.
Trains would now be allowed to pass through Angamali and Karukutty station since repair works on both tracks have been completed. Traffic towards Trivandrum was restored in the early morning hours, while those to Thrissur and beyond were restored by about 7.15 am.
Even though the traffic has been restored fully, some trains could be canceled while some would be delayed. Trains such as Sabari Express, Bombay Jayanthi Janata and Island Express would travel at normal times.
Twelve bogies of 23-coach Thiruvananthapuram-Mangalore Express train carrying around 1500 people had derailed at Karukutty on Sunday at 2.16 am. There were no casualties and one passenger was injured. The timely intervention by the railway authorities ensured the safety of other trains that passed through adjacent tracks. Cracks in the tracks are believed to have caused the mishap and sabotage has been ruled out.
