ISIS running 'terror classes' in Kerala? NIA to seek police remand of Yasmin Ahmed

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) will seek police remand of a 29-year-old woman from Bihar, suspected to have links with the alleged recruitment of youths from Kerala to Islamic State (ISIS), sources said Monday.
The woman, identified as Yasmin Ahmed, was arrested by a special team of Kerala police from Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi when she was about to leave the country for Kabul on July 31.
The sources added that Yasmin Ahmed made some revelations before the special investigation team (SIT) of Kerala police and told the investigators that the dreaded terrorist outfit is secretly running terror classes in Kerala.
The NIA had taken over the case of the mass disappearance of youths from various parts of Kerala under mysterious circumstances and had registered a first information report (FIR).
Yasmin Ahmed was taken into custody just before she was to board a plane to Kabul where her husband, also allegedly linked to ISIS, is currently located.
The woman is the second wife of main accused Abdul Rashid, a native of Kasaragod, and is alleged to have played a key role in the recruitment of about 21 Keralite youths in ISIS, sources said.
Yasmin was brought to Kerala earlier this month and was produced before a local court after detailed interrogation.
The NIA and police forces of various states have so far arrested 54 youths across the country after registering cases to investigate their alleged links with Islamic State.
The terrorist outfit is using various platforms to propagate its ideology and to attract young people from across the world.
Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, referring to reports that some Keralites had joined IS, had informed the state assembly on July 11 that 21 persons were missing from the state.
Among them, 17 were from Kasaragod and four from Palakkad as per preliminary information available, he had said.
