KSRTC driver dies as B'luru-Kottayam Volvo meets with accident

Krishnagiri: A Volvo bus of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) collided with a goods lorry Sunday night near Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, killing the driver of the bus.
The Garuda bus, plying from Bengaluru to Kottayam, met with the accident when a goods lorry in front of it applied sudden brake as it was stopped by police. John Kennedy, the driver of the KSRTC bus, died in the collision. All the passengers are safe.
A passenger reportedly said that the accident took place when police asked the lorry driver to stop the vehicle, catching the KSRTC Volvo driver by surprise.
After the accident, an irate crowd of locals blocked the national highway, keeping the driver's body in front of the bus and demanding that the district collector take action against the police whose action led to the accident.
The report also said that driver Kennedy, who was deployed at the Palakkad depot of KSRTC, made sure that the passengers are safe before he died.
The stranded passengers boarded another Ernakulam-bound Volvo bus of KSRTC. From Ernakulam, KSRTC has readied another bus to Kottayam for the passengers.
