'Torture' by teacher: Keralite schoolgirl dies after setting herself on fire

Ernakulam: A schoolgirl, who tried to commit suicide allegedly due to her teacher's harassment, died on Saturday.

T.A. Nandana of the Government Model Vocational Higher Secondary School in Moovattupuzha succumbed to burn injuries at Kottayam Medical College Hospital.

Last Saturday, the teacher allegedly rebuked the girl after a letter was found in her bag. Following the incident, the girl tried to commit suicide by setting herself ablaze.

The girl's family has complained about the teacher to the police. The school authorities are yet to respond to the incident.
